Our Mission: IndyFeral seeks to reduce the unowned stray and feral (wild) cat overpopulation through the non-lethal method of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), not trap and kill.
To register your colony call our "feral line" at (317) 596-2300 or email contact@indyferal.org.

Cat with a tipped ear. An ear tip is the universal sign that a cat is sterilized, fully vetted, and is part of a managed colony.
About Our Services
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) - TNR is a humane, non-lethal method in which stray & feral (wild) cats are trapped, evaluated, sterilized, eartipped, and vaccinated. Tame cats & kittens are placed into homes as resources allow. Cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat.
Field Volunteers - Volunteers experienced in trapping cats can provide instruction and hands-on assistance with all phases of the TNR process as volunteer resources allow.
Feral Cat Colony Management - Volunteers (Colony Caretakers) provide long-term care, including food, shelter and health monitoring. Ongoing surveillance ensures that any newcomers will be vaccinated and sterilized to allow the colony to diminish over time through natural attrition
Every stray & feral cat treated by IndyFeral receives a standard package of treatment which includes:
Spay or Neuter by a licensed veterinarian (including antibiotic and pain control medication applied at the time of surgery)
3-year rabies vaccination
3-in-1 feline vaccination (FVRCP) including "distemper" (cats under 6 months)
Treatment for fleas, worms, earmites and other parasites
Wellness check, including ear and eye cleaning
Treatment for injuries and illnesses as needed
Post-operative recovery provided at our clinic
Eartip: a permanent visual identification in the form of a cropped, left eartip
Financial assistance is available for those who qualify
How to Request Assistance and Register Your Colony
We assist residents of Marion County, but can provide a referral source for TNR if you live outside our service area. Please read-up on TNR here on our web site. To begin TNR, register your colony, or for any questions, call our "Feral Line" at 317-596-2300.
As IndyFeral is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping people care for stray & feral cats in central Indiana, the demand for our services is very high. There is a waiting list for spay/neuter surgeries, so please be patient

IndyStar features IndyFeral and the Animal Welfare Alliance in a series of feature articles
When it's morning feeding time, Henry, Calico Girl, McLuvin and other feral cats start gathering.
These spayed or neutered cats are among dozens in an IndyFeral colony in the Butler Tarkington neighborhood, where IndyFeral Executive Director Lisa Tudor or her volunteers ensure that the cats they've had fun naming have shelter, fresh food and water. Read Helping the Wild Ones at Indystar.com
The Indianapolis Feral Cat Caretakers website is a place for colony caretakers in Marion County / Indianapolis Indiana to provide IndyFeral with essential information on the number of cats being cared for, where they live, and how the colonies change over time.
If you are caring for stray or feral cats in Marion County, your participation is very important. The information you provide, in combination with that of other colony caretakers, will allow IndyFeral to prove Trap-Neuter-Return works by preventing new litters and gradually reducing the size of colonies over time.
Kitten Season is Here.
Kitten season is here, do you know what to do if you find kittens?
Bring us your old, your tired, your broken doghouses...
FIDO (Friends Of Indianapolis Dogs Outside) is accepting donations of "mismatched box-type" plastic doghouse tops or bottoms. These will be modified to produce shelters for IndyFeral colony cats. These modified dog houses make ideal group housing units for large colonies. If you have materials to donate or would like to help with this project please contact Marie Koenig at 509-0525 or email koenigmarie55 [at] gmail [dot] com.

IndyFeral to share space in new animal welfare center
According to the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 72% of all animals that wind up in Marion County shelters come from just ten zip codes, six of which are in the Fountain Square area. This corresponds with IndyFeral's experience. Most of our requests for service come from the Fountain Square area and the near east side of Indianapolis
The new clinic will target low income pet owners, and will be used by IndyFeral to provide surgeries for feral and stray cats.
IndyFeral Participating in Animal Welfare Alliance
IndyFeral is participating in a new and exciting collaboration between Indianapolis animal welfare groups, city officials and local agencies that aims to improve the situation for animals and address public safety issues in Indianapolis.
The participants have developed a vision for a better Indianapolis and have set a ten year plan to achieve the vision. On February 1, John Aleshire of the Humane Society of Indianapolis met with the mayor of Indianapolis and received the mayor's support for the plan.
IndyFeral has great hope and expectation that this broad-based alliance with such a high degree of support and commitment from key groups and individuals in Indianapolis will lead to real and sustainable improvements in Indianapolis, for animals and people.
